What Kind of Church is Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church?

Wethersfield: We are a church that exists both in and for the community of Wethersfield, the greater Hartford area, New England and the farthest corners of the world.

Evangelical: We are a church that proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ. Because Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the dead, we can have our sins forgiven, our lives transformed and the promise of eternal life with God. This tremendous gift is ours simply through repenting of our sin and putting our faith in Jesus Christ.

Free: Our roots come from a "Free Church Movement" that began during the reformation in Scandinavia. In many of these countries there was no separation of church and state, and therefore these "free" churches came into being. Today, affiliation with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) provides an association of churches seeking to reach communities around the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Yet each EFCA church remains "free" to govern itself and carry out the mission of the Gospel as God leads.

Church: We are a group of people, committed to God and to one another, that we might come to know and share Jesus.
