  Missions

At WEFC, we are strongly committed to fulfilling Jesus' command, known as the Great Commission: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19,20 NIV)

We have a long-standing tradition of providing support for missionaries and mission organizations who are serving the Lord in the U.S. and abroad. We currently support approximately 40 active missionaries and several missionary retirees. We also support many missions organizations and new church plants. Our missionaries serve in a dozen countries around the world, as well as in the U.S. Eight of our active missionaries were sent out from WEFC or have family roots in our church.

WEFC also encourages and supports our own people being involved in short-term mission projects. Over the past several years nearly two dozen people from our church have been involved in short-term mission projects in the U.S. and several third-world countries. In particular, we have been sending teams to minister in Chiang Mai, Thailand – working on new construction at a Bi-Vocational Training Center, as well as coming alongside local pastors in providing Bible teaching. Our teens have also served at Christian camps and with Vacation Bible School at our own church and in inner-city settings during the summer.

In the local area, we have worked on projects at homeless shelters and participated in construction projects, including Habitat for Humanity. For the past several years, one Saturday a month, teams of our people prepare and serve breakfast at Mercy House in Hartford.
