Ladies Breakfast: Saturday, June 9th, 9:00 -11:00 am

LADIES (age 13+) – We’d love to have you join us for a very special morning! We’ll begin at 9:00 with a catered breakfast, followed by a message by our special guest, Clara Ruffin. Clara is known to several of our women, and she is sure to touch your heart, with both her warmth and her message.

Clara Ruffin is a former classroom teacher who has won national acclaim; she is a minister, an author, a wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband, Richard, are co-founders of the Ministry of the Open Door and the Hartford Friendship Kids’ Camp, a summer day camp for inner city youth, ages 5 - 13.

She has marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., prayed with Astronaut Jim Irwin who drove a jeep on the moon, prayed with Ruby Bridges, the first African-American child to attend an all-white public elementary school in the American South, smuggled Bibles to China and prayed with Communist soldiers.

In 1992, she was chosen as Who’s Who Among American Teachers, and in 1998, Christian Educators Association selected her as National Christian Educator of the Year.

Mrs. Ruffin is the author of five books. In 2013, she started a specialty card company called, “Clara-fying Love Food for Thought.” Her poems and articles have appeared in national magazines.

Her travels have taken her to Mexico, France, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Jamaica and Israel.

She and her husband, Rev. Richard T. Ruffin, Sr., have two adult sons: Dr. Richard Ruffin, Jr. and Dr. Vernon Alexander Ruffin, Ph.D. They’ve been blessed with four grandchildren: Aaron, Kayla, Reese and Malcolm Ruffin.
