Use Your Gifts to Impact God’s Kingdom: Serve at VBS

Vacation Bible School (VBS) reaches kids in our church and surrounding community with the good news of God’s amazing love. VBS 2017 will take place at WEFC, Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14 from 9:00 AM to noon. VBS not only offers a fun and exciting week for young children, but also provides a unique opportunity for people of all ages, and with various gifts, to serve in Christian ministry together.

Success in VBS and Children’s Ministry in general, rises and falls on the strength and gifting of the volunteer team that serves. For VBS 2016, 50 volunteers served and mentored 70+ children in attendance. Volunteers as young as 12 handed out snacks each day, others assisted in setting up the arts and crafts supplies and coached younger children in assembling crafts.

A Bible team of high school and middle school students brought the Bible stories to life with drama and hands on activities. A young mom, on her own time, painted the Bible story backdrop for display in the sanctuary. Outgoing and detail-oriented women took responsibility to welcome children and families, and saw that children were safe and secure as they were picked up each afternoon.

Young adults and high school students had everyone singing praises to Jesus as our talented VBS worship band. A local radio host faithfully set up the sound system each day. High school and middle school boys led the high energy outside games. We had a missionary storyteller engage the kids in a suspenseful story of a young girl in Thailand. There were moms, grandmas and other adults leading groups of young children to various activities throughout the day. People of all ages experienced the life giving, good news of Jesus together

Relationships are borne, built, and strengthened in an amazing way during this unique five day event. Come, serve and experience 2017’s VBS with us. Contact Shelagh Schuberth to be part of the team.
